Named for our beloved brewhouse dog, Chewie, this doppelbock will guide you unscathed through the winters of Hoth and/or the Jersey Shore. Our take on the traditional German doppelbock (which translates to "Double Dark Lager"), the 7% ABV may seem intimidating at first, much like Chewie, but then the malted sweetness on the backend and depth of flavor from our 3 month lager process shine through to show this beer's charm. Dark but not bitter and strong yet gentle, this beer is the perfect companion for all of your adventures

Clear very dark amber appearance.
Medium light carbonation with about a medium body with a slightly sticky thickness.
Aroma is malty, brown sugar, doughy malty bread, earthy buckwheat honey.
Taste is very identical to aroma, mild sweetness, and again mild earthy honey.
This was a very flavorful well done beer that I would definitely look for again.

a: rich, dark ruby red, amber, and light brown. a hint of light purple as well. 1.5 finger tan rocky head
s: milk chocolate, roasted malts, fig, prunes, dates. dark wheat, oak, pepper. sweet molasses, grass, and some earthy tea-like hops
t: roasted malts, and tons of milk chocolate. fig and molasses along with a sweet tea leaf presence. big cereal note in here and some dark toasted bread. a touch of pepper and lager spice at the end
m: full mouthfeel, a touch sticky. moderate carbonation
o: pretty nice for the style. heavy on the chocolate notes. and while full of flavor and in the mouth, like a good Lager it's easy to drink

Can to tulip glass.
LOOK: nice mohogany like red/brown color. light chestnut colored head, very good retention.
AROMA: Big Barley aroma, hints of brandy, wine, apple raisin.
TASTE: apple and cereal malts, gingerbread, hint of bitter veggie at finish, but mostly satisfying.
FEEL: Very refreshing, very good carbonation.
Very nice Bock. A Wookie of a beer.

Lager taste is very upfront, roasted malt a distant second. Not a lot of depth here, thin-bodied, kind of un-substantial. A bit of booziness creeps in toward the bottom of the glass. Mediocre effort. Sorry, Chewie.

Very drinkable bock with a high abv that you can't notice in taste at all.

Big red and boozy. And it's a very nice example of a doppelbock.
