Social distancing.

That might be the buzz word(s) of the year as we all know how much of a letdown 2020 has been. Thankfully, there have been some bright spots and bright sides to this year and thankfully, this was one of them. No, this wouldn't win any awards but this was as solid, enjoyable brew that went down easily as it was balanced, flavorful, and didn't quite feel like an Imperial IPA and Lord knows, I could use any chance to relax and forget about recent events for a bit as this allowed me to do just that!

This poured a lot like the Spelt Check, which I picked up at the same time at the brewery about a month and a half ago. Muted, golden, and topped off with plenty of head, this amazingly left zero lacing behind as I worked my way through it. The aroma was full of oats and wheat as this was reminiscent of both the Spelt Check and many of the All Together beers that I've been working my way through in recent weeks. Obviously, no spelt here but the hops were bold, aromatic, and "hot" as described on this beer's write-up on Instagram. Lots of tropical pith, boisterous lime, and dank hops in the taste as the tang from present from the first sip to the last drop.

It was nearly impossible to detect the alcohol here and although there were a few dark bits of sediment at the bottom of the liquid, they weren't a detraction from my overall experience with this. Canned on 5/27 with "REACH FOR THE SKY" written underneath that, This beer may have been the epitome of what this year has been about. Something that might have been a mess actually turned out to be one of the the bigger surprises that I've had as of late, as the papaya undertone and body both complemented each other nicely, without being overpowering or offensive. Hopefully, the world as we know it will not come to and end this year and more lovely, understated brews like this can be enjoyed in the future, as Icarus has proven that they're more than up for the task when it comes to concocting beers of that sort!
