Traded for this a few weeks back as I was super excited to give this a go. From what I've seen on here, this was an improvement over the original as it was a full-bodied and well-rounded IPA that was not like the juice bombs that are more common in these parts as the look, taste, feel, and heft were quite different!
Can't say that I've ever seen a New England IPA that looked like honey but that's how this poured as it was quite dark and almost reminded me of mead or a Barleywine, which was a sign of things to come! The head was sufficient as the lacing left behind was nonexistent along the top of my pint glass but quite layered in the center of the middle. A ton of soft hops, white peach, sweet and floral citrus, and booze in the nose as the taste really opened up as the oats, orange blossom, and sticky mango all combined for a heavy and filling taste that was lovely to enjoy and savor in small sips. Nearly impossible to pick out the carbonation in this as the oats, honey, sucrose, and alcohol almost made this a meal in a can - or at least something that was easy to swish and warm up.
This was a beast and almost felt like it had a hint of rye in it, as this was no typical New England IPA. Some wildflower, deep mint, honeysuckle, and nectar being present in the back as this only got better with each passing sip. Dated 1/12 with "UNSINKABLE: 2021 EDITION" written underneath it, these featured all 5 of it's hops beautifully as this almost begged to be place into a category by itself. Easily worth being a 4 Year Anniversary offering!
