American Barleywine brewed with Maris Otter Barley and a touch of Rye before aggressively hopping with Galena and Chinook. Aged in Heaven Hill Bourbon Barrels for 18 months before transferring some into Private Batch Heaven Hill Barrels for an additional 7 months.

Super dark semi-opaque body with a beige collar. Nose is boozy with barley and sweet caramel malts starring. Taste is hot with both barrels, hops and earth right there, then sweet malt. Feel is hot and hoppy for style, chewy and slightly dry. Lay this one down for awhile if you have a bottle

My first taste of Icarus & luckily it’s evening without any sun. 750ML bottle split with my wife as we take a breather from Season #3 of Ted Lasso. If you haven’t watched it, do. Now. I’ll wait.
The pour is murky, clay red & breathes exactly as expected, in layers of bourbon & caramel.
Life Unrivaled is a cool name for a beer even if, like most beer names currently, I have no idea what it means. Another beer where the barrels shine front & center. Big bourbon bib with a caramel bone structure, 80% percentile of booziness. Full stop. Thick for a barleywine. I could take this bottle if I hadn’t anything to drink previously. And didn’t have to get up tomorrow.
Another simple, brutal, well-crafted beer. Excellent.
