new school dry hops in a simple saison, exactly the kind of thing i want and expect from little beast, except that this isnt very good, not up to their usual high standard, at least where i had it. it was near still from the tap, no real head at all, had a tired sort of taste and look and feel, and the hops dont pop like they should, talus and loral, a fun combination, but its oddly unexciting in this, not sure what happened, maybe a line pour, but this came in well below my lofty expectations overall, perhaps its better from the can, i hope to find out. blonde apple cider looking thing, some apparent weight though for what it is without the bubbles. nose and taste of light oxidation, a vegetal thing from the hops, an almost fuel element, and some hints of melon and strawberry still coming through. light white wine to me, but an underwhelming yeast profile with very little nuance, no funk, and a simple and familiar citrusy ester. this is dull to me, the hops have no life to them nor does the rest of the drink, wheaty, light pineapple and tangerine, grassiness, some bitterness, not the talus i know and love, and not the little beast excitement and vibrancy i have come to depend on from them, but again, could be the establishment more than the beer, hoping that is the case, half expecting it to be. some late sweetness, malt fade, and peppery yeast. i wanted a lot more from this but will save harsher judgement until i can try this elsewhere...
