a light and refreshing rice based lager beer with ginger and sorachi ace hops. its fairly well made, more refined to me than their messy but tasty cloudy hoppy beers i have had. clean ferment with the lager yeast, very dry and pale, with a super light body due to the inclusion of rice. its earthy and bright at the same time, and its well carbonated and refreshing. the ginger is a nice touch, its spicy and natural tasting to me, obvious in the flavor but not overdosed. instead its a neat layers that adds a little prickle to the tongue and keeps the beer interesting. a little seems to go a long way in such a simple and mild base beer. the hops are whats lacking for me. i think the beer is balanced in terms of hop flavor and bitterness, and more are not needed to improve this in any technical way. i am just a great lover of the sorachi ace hop, and think its lemon herbal creaminess would add a lot to this in higher dose. its there a little, and its wonderful with the ginger, but my personal preference would be for quite a bit bigger load of them in here to finish it off with the lager yeast and the fresh ginger in the end. still a real enjoyable summery glass of beer. some cool stuff from these guys so far...
