Canned on 5/4/22; consumed on 5/24/22
Pours a turbid, almost milky mango-orange body capped with two fingers of dense, fluffy, white foam; good head retention leaves a spotty, paper-thin veil of cap, a moderate, creamy collar, and layers of webby, soapy lacing caked across the walls of the glass.
Aromas of waxy papaya suggest an underlying, almost fermented honey character upfront, leaving residual resins phasing into orange zest while notes of twangy grapefruit contrast a comparatively dank gooseberry over time.
Taste brings soft mango pith into more lively gooseberry upfront, saturated with overripe passionfruit and light guava over the mid-palate; lime compote meets red grapefruit and a doughy malt underbelly on the back end, while grassy/piney accents finish.
Mouthfeel offers a medium body with carbonation slightly below moderate and taut textures producing a distant twang over the mid-palate and a pseudo-bittering into the back end, where creaminess flows alongside a juicy brightness on the finish.
Prominent citrus and a balancing, dank subtlety see a profile exuding both richness and restraint, while a harder yeast presence throughout limits this one from reaching its further potential as a NETIPA; a level approach and impressively approachable 9.5% ABV.
