definitely not retired, interesting that these guys are sending cans to idaho too, a long way from home. this was somehow nine bucks for a single, more expensive than it should be, but its also unique in this space, a wonderfully pure expression of blackberries, and pretty interesting on the ferment too for a kettle sour. this has a pink color to it, gets thicker and thicker towards the bottom of the can, approaching almost jello texture at the bottom, doesnt even really look like beer. the nose is tart and mouthwatering, natural fruit, tons of it, and a little jammy sweetness with it, alongside twangy funk, more than anticipated for a front end bacterial thing. the taste has an even more pronounced funkiness to it, a mix of sour and wild tasting to me, almost even a lambic note to it, impressive and delicious. the fruit profile is enormous, pure blackberry goodness, overloaded but distinctive, and highly compatible with this dynamic fermentation profile, it doesnt taste like every other lactic kettle sour, its way more interesting than that. i wish it was a little more cleaned up overall, its thick and messy feeling, not ideal, but the flavor is fantastic. i hate the price but the beer is a lot of fun, a good one to share as a little goes a long way...

This blackberry sour was released as a small-batch (I think they do "small-batch Thursdays"). I would love to see and consume this on a regular basis; it was one of my favorite sours from a Texas brewery. Dark bluish/purplish in appearance; fruited with blackberries on the nose and taste, with a small hint of funkiness.
