Poured from a can into a pint glass
Appearance - The beer pours a hazy yellow-orange color with a one finger head of fluffy white foam. The head has a good level of retention, slowly fading to leave a good showing of foamy lace on the sides of the glass.
Smell – The aroma of the brew is strong of a a bready and yeasty smell mixed with a whole lot of grapefruit and herbal hop. Along with these aromas comes notes of peach and apricot as well as some aromas of pine and hay.
Taste – The taste begins with a drier bready malt flavor with notes of cracker malt and a bit of grape, tropical fruits, apricot, and orange. Upfront there is also a decent showing of a herbal and grapefruit hop with the former getting stronger as the taste profile advances forward. Also as the taste advances forward comes some flavors of a light graininess and a bit of pine. At the end, a little warming alcohol and a grassy taste join in, leaving one with a slightly drier, and decently hopped up taste to linger on the tongue.
Mouthfeel – The body of the brew is medium in thickness with a carbonation level that is moderate. The middle ground of the feel is good for balancing the drier nature and the high abv, making it a rather nice slower sipper.
Overall – A nice drier imperial hazy IPA. A little on the more dank side with a rather balanced flavor overall.
