This crisp lager is a beautiful deep brown with a frothy white head. A delicate, yet intricate bouquet of malt aromas provide notes of lightly-roasted coffee and golden raisins, enhanced by a clean fermentation profile and muted hop aroma. A melting pot of luxurious malt flavors make up the bulk of the flavor profile. Complex melanoidins (caramelized flavor) add extra depth to a palate of light toffee, ripe dates, and a playful, espresso-like finish. Full attenuation coupled with a high level of natural carbonation lends to a dry profile with a light-to-medium body and a crisp finish, making it the perfect beer to sip around the campfire on a cool Texas (or Colorado) evening.

Haven't had a Schwarzbier in ages but when I came across this not too long ago on Tavour, I had to give it a go. First offering that I've had from Weathered Souls, as I never saw anything from them while down in the Lone Star State. Indeed, this was worth obtaining as it was a great take on the style since it was true to form, flavorful, and quite easy to drink!
Fittingly, this poured a deep brown that was reminiscent of coffee or dark bread, with a full and long-lasting tan head that lasted for the duration. Tons of thick and layered rings went all the way down my pint glass, as this had one of the best looks of any Schwarzbier I've ever had. Raisin, golden raisin, and coffee were in the nose as the taste had some dates, dark bread, espresso, malt, and roasted notes in it. Quite complex, plenty lively with bubbles, and clean on the finish, this wasn't dry or burnt as no chasers of water were required afterward!
This almost looked like a tap pour when I emptied out the liquid from the can into my glass as it was quite lively and vigorous in every aspect - except for the booze. I never felt it as I'm glad I ordered a second can in my crate. All that was missing from this was a date on the bottom, as this was quite the first impression from these guys. One of the better examples of the style here!

Dark brown body crowned with a thick, creamy and frothy light khaki colored head. Fine smell combing roasted grain and cocoa. Decent if rather weak flavor; light cocoa with moderate hop bitterness; odd phenolic sharpness. Heavy body; smooth with a respectable residual sugar presence.
This is a decent schwarzbier overall.
Poured at 49° F; bottom of can data: QUEEN'S GAMBIT 11/23/20

16oz can into a pint glass. Canned 11/23/20, so over 5 months old.
Looks very good in the glass. Deep brown body with a small tan head which persists in good form throughout, leaving attractive lacing.
Aroma is malty with a very light roast.
On tasting, malty, dry, full flavored with a light roast and a hint of smoke.
Mouth medium, finish dry and malty.
Overall, pretty good beer. No real deficiencies. Easy drinking and sessionable.
