Ordered from Tavour in a 16 ounce can, chilled, and poured into an imperial pint glass.
Look: thick opaque orange, like orange juice, with a huge light orange head that quickly disappeared leaving the tiniest ring of foam on the glass. The fruit puree hangs just below the top layer of liquid, weird.
Smell: guava, mango, a little funk, some tropical notes that are difficult to separate. Earthy pepper on the backend.
Taste: passions fruit, guava and some mango, followed by a light sour note that meshes with some funk and trailing tropical fruit notes. Earthy pepper on the back end and in the nose (we chew on it and got the pepper and salt). No booze and no bitter or hop notes. Not sure we get chili-lime, but we get salt on the far trailing end of the taste.
Feel: medium to full feel, carbonation is almost non-existent. The sour and puréed fruit mesh together well creating an interesting and refreshing feel.
Overall this is pretty much what is advertised on the can. The mesh of the fruit and the mild funk is a little off-putting. Not sure what we think of this one. Bren said that when she chewed on it a bit she got a lingering flavor that reminded her of penicillin, she asked if I knew what she meant and I said “no, I’m allergic to that”… lol.
Cheers!
