Well this is an impromptu review, as the wife 'accidently' knocked this bottle off the counter before I got home from work lol.....how it didn't break, nobody will ever know.......
A- Dark brown/black in color, with little to no head, but that is due to this bottle being open when I got home....I did pour it fairly hard and it does have a soapy dark tan colored ring around the glass. The lacing is modest at best as well, and leaves behind an oily brownish film around the inside of the glass as well. This is too hard to tell how well carbonated it is, but oh well! Probably not as nice a look as from a freshly opened bottle, but I'll let this one slide....
S- Sweet aromas of roasted hazelnuts, plenty of vanilla bean and/or extract, milk chocolate, Caramilk bar, vanilla birthday cake, vanilla frosting, white chocolate, dark roasty chocolate malts, bakers yeast, cake doughnut and probably not a whole lot else.....very dessert like....very enticing!
T- The flavors follow suit to the aromas rather well, with sweet syrupy flavors of heavy vanilla, birthday cake, hazelnut, chocolate (Both milk and dark varieties), more of the bittering cocoa nibs used in the recipe, and as it warms, the big booze shines through. Along with that, I get some dark dried fruitiness, some muted Earthy bitterness. Creamy biscuit yeast notes are detected as well.....Overall it is sticky, sweet and delicious!
M/O- A nice smooth beer, with velvety carbonation, medium full body, and full flavors! The alcoholic nature does show itself, which leads me to sipping on this one more than taking in full mouthfulls......the drinkability would be, in my opinion, modest.....maybe it was a good thing only half of this bottle survived lolol.....I would definitely enjoy this again, and hope to experience it in the future!
