473 mL can; dated Sep 5 2025 and served barely chilled. Day 5 of the 2025 Toronto Brewing advent calendar. This session IPA is named "Eddy", and is listed at 4.2%. Since there's only one page on Untappd, I'm assuming this beer has been rebranded recently with a slightly different name & recipe.
Pours a foggy pale golden colour with a small amount of sandy sediment visible within. One finger of soapy, sudsy white head collapses within a minute or two, reduced to a creamy collar surrounding a patchy film on the surface. No shortage of delicate, spidery lace - looks great so far. Citrusy aroma of orange & grapefruit, together with notes of passion fruit, melon and apricot.
As session IPAs go, this one tastes fine. Grainy pale malts and steel cut oats provide some background support, but it's mainly the Galaxy hops that I'm tasting - I'm talking grapefruit, orange zest, apricot and a hint of tropical fruit. Pithy finish with some restrained grassy bitterness preceding a dry finish and crisp aftertaste. Light in body, with sharp carbonation that remains prickly for most of the session; those bubbles are relentless & palate-scrubbing, but this is a very light IPA so it kind of works. Yeah, I could drink a few of these in a row without a fuss.
Final Grade: 3.73, a respectable B grade. Eddy is better than average for a session IPA: the dry finish is what sells it for me, but that's not enough to guarantee many repeats in the future. That's mostly due to personal bias: I don't drink all that many session IPAs in the first place. However, I do want to make it clear to the people who *do* enjoy a lighter IPA that they should definitely give this Common Good brew a shot.
