473 mL can served barely chilled; listed at 5% and dated Oct 16 2025. Day 16 of the 2025 Toronto Brewing advent calendar.
Pours ebony black, with glints of chestnut brown 'round the edges when the glass is held to a bright light. Two fingers of foamy, tan-coloured head rises and falls within three or four minutes, leaving behind a thin collar and a filmy cap; scant lace deposition. The aroma is fairly boilerplate, consisting of roasted malts, cocoa, oatmeal and subtle milk chocolate.
It's a solid-tasting stout without any real surprises. Roasted malts impart notes of cocoa and light roast coffee, alongside some oatmeal and caramelized sugar sweetness; maybe a little bit of roasted hazel-nuttiness, too. A little earthy on the back end, with cocoa, oats and a touch of ash fading into a roasty aftertaste that trends off-dry. Light-medium in body, with gentle carbonation and a smooth, supple mouthfeel. Not the most interesting and/or flavourful oatmeal stout I've ever had, but it is quite quaffable, with good session potential.
Final Grade: 3.79, a B+. Common Good's Wexford is a quality oatmeal stout that I'd rank as slightly above average for the style. My only real gripe with this beer is that it doesn't stand out (or go above and beyond) in any way whatsoever - hardly an unforgivable sin, but still, there's absolutely some room for improvement here. I'd buy this again if I found it as a single, but in the meantime I'll stick with my go-to, St-Ambroise.

Decent taste for a lower abv stout. Easy drinkability. Average mouthfeel. Not thick but not dry.Black as night. Good starter beer. Mild roast aroma.
