So, yesterday my wife passed her PhD exam and we went to the Pogue Mahone to celebrate. Its not the best bar in the world, but is handy for her work, and at least has Tankhouse on tap. Unfortunately they have dropped the Mill Street as well as fallback options, Creemore and Leffe Brun, leaving a pretty uninspiring macro list and this John Labatt Summer Cream Ale.
It looks like a Blue with only a small film of a head, and it smells faintly of lemon. The taste upfront is plastic, transitioning to watered down lemon juice, before climaxing in a watered down lemon juice splashed plastic finish. The texture is just all wrong too. Maybe I need to reschool myself on cream ales, but shouldn't they be smooth and creamy rather than watery and aggressively carbonated? While its not the worst beer I've had it is the worst attempt at a style I've ever had. At least the other beers were identifiable as being within the style they claimed to be. This is even less of a cream ale than Keith's is an IPA.

We love reviews (150 characters or more)! Check out: How to Review a Beer. You don't need to get fancy. Drop some thoughts on the beer's attributes (look, smell, taste, feel) plus your overall impression. Something that backs up your rating and helps others. Thanks!
