Untitled Art is one of my new fave brewers, and this brew is another reason why...

Scotch Ales are one of my favorite styles - and this one has some chocolate thrown in for good measure. This makes you think that it would be a dessert beer, but it is far from it. In the glass it has a great dark caramel look with creamy head, no lacing. The smell it exudes is chocolate and the sweet smell of the caramel to go along with its look. Mouthfeel is light and lightly carbonated - a tad sticky afterfeel noted. The taste is mostly the flavor of a scotch ale I have had in the past, very light on the chocolate and with very little notes of caramel I was expecting. Overall, a very nice beer. Something to bring on hand to impress folks, IMHO.

L – Pours a medium amber/caramel color from a 12 oz can into a snifter. Darker opaque in the glass. One finger light khaki head that completely fades.

S – Sweet caramel with the malty-grainy scotch/barleywine smell, some light chocolate.

T – Taste follows the smell with sweet caramel, not too much distinct chocolate, but it's there.

F – Medium body with low carbonation, nice & smooth.

O – I like it, but not too different from a typical good Scotch Ale. You know it’s a scotch ale with decent ABV (8%)

Poured into a Stone flute glass. Pours a medium to dark reddish orange with a half finger light khaki head with goo retention and light lacing. Aroma of biscuit malt, light peaty smoke and milk chocolate. Flavor is biscuit malt, hints of dry caramel, light peat, dates and raisins. An interesting take on a Scotch ale that sounds good from the start and smells very appealing. The flavor is more traditional Scotch ale profile with very light chocolate character and light to moderate peat. I found myself wishing for a more robus chocolate lik in the aroma, but this is still a very nice Scotch ale and the light chocolate note adds interest. Nicely done. I hope this brewery arrives in the Washington market.

I love chocolate and this brand provides enough taste of it for a beer.
