Collaboration with Speciation Artisan Ales
Say ¡hola! to the Michelada just in time for Cinco de Mayo celebrations tomorrow! With a hint of heat from Tabasco, a touch of tang from lime and a dash of salt to finish it off, what’s stopping you from celebrating? - This fun brew was made in collaboration with Speciation Artisan Ales on the other side of the lake in Michigan.
Brewed with tabasco peppers.

Canned 5/1/19
Pours a deep translucent orange with 3 fingers of fizzy off white head that reduces to nothing quickly, no lacing
Not too much going on in the nose, some salinity, citrus, and wheat. Just a touch of earthy spiciness
The taste is actually impressive here, notes of lime and orange coming on strong to start the sip with a solid wheat backbone and ends with a drying tabasco like spice and another hint of citrus and salt
Not much carbonation to this, but it is medium bodied and finishes a bit sticky and spicy, I feel the spice tingle on my lips
A perplexing brew here for sure, not much in the way of aroma or feel but it still tastes pretty damn good. Found it on the discount rack at the liquor store and at $2 a can I went for it

This is basically a chile-lime Berliner weisse. Not that hard to process. Disclaimer: there's no tomato, clamato, or shellfish in this. Contains tabasco peppers, not tabasco sauce. A key difference, as there's no vinegar.
Pours a saturated golden orange, thin foam that fades to nothing, fine considering the adjuncts in this. Bright and crisp, a lot of lime citrus with a toasted chile note and warming heat that builds. Moderately tart with fairly soft carbonation. Salt seems to dry out the finish and the heat lingers. Tabasco peppers add a toasted chile flavor up front that mingles nicely with the juicy tart lime.
Overall it's refreshing and a unique twist on the Michelada, a Mexican bloody-mary style beer cocktail. Hard to grasp for some people, funny since bloody marys are so popular.

Michelada is too different for me to get my head or buds around.
I will note this is the only beer to drive me to take an antacid.
OA points for creativity do not compensate for not being able to drink this.
That said, I'm fascinated by Untitled Art. They appear to be more of a designer packager to do collaborations with other brewers. (Who brews and who distributes is a mystery to me from their website.) Of the 26+ collaborators, I've had only a handful; so Untitled Art makes connections better than I. Untitled Art has an interesting strategy... if I understand it.

A: Pours a slightly hazy medium to dark burnt orange in color with moderate amounts of fine active visible carbonation rising from the bottom of the glass and moderate iced tea brown + dark orange + dark honey + dark golden yellow colored highlights. The beer has a two finger tall fizzy sudsy foamy light beige head that quickly reduces to a very small patch of very thin film and a very thin ring at the edges of the glass. Minimal amounts of lacing are observed.
S: Moderate aromas of slightly tart, slightly sweet lime citrus + vinegary Tabasco hot sauce + salty salinity + light aromas of green tomato over the top of light to moderate aromas of slightly sour wheat malts.
T: Upfront there are light to moderate flavors of slightly sour wheat malts with minimal amounts of sweetness. That is followed by moderate flavors of green tomato, celery salt, vinegary Tabasco sauce, and slightly tart/slightly sweet lime citrus. No perceptible hop presence. There are light to moderate amounts of Tabasco sauce spiciness + salty salinity which linger through the finish.
M: Just shy of medium bodied with moderate amounts of carbonation. Light to moderate amounts of acidic prickliness.
O: This is definitely an odd beer - kinds of reminds me of a fairly salty gose with Tabasco + lime with a light to moderate amount of spiciness. Not sure that I would drink another of these but definitely a very interesting take of the "style."

16 oz. Can
CANNED ON: 05/01/19
Poured into a Trillium glass a nice cloudy dark golden color, pretty nice carbonation, with a nice thick/creamy/fizzy one-finger plus off-white head, which leaves minimal sticky lacing behind. The nose is malty, with some lemon/lime, peach, tart/sour, kinda funky. The taste is nice, malty, with some lemon/lime, peach, tart/sour, funky. Medium body, ABV is hidden pretty nicely, with a nice little dry/bitter finish. Overall, a tasty brew.

16 ounce can into tulip glass, canned on 5/1/2019. Pours fairly hazy/cloudy medium golden yellow color with a 2 finger fairly dense and fluffy off white head with poor retention, that reduces to nothing eventually. No glass lacing, some clinging bubbles and streaming carbonation. Aromas of big tart/sour lemon, lime, orange, citrus peel/zest, peach, pear, melon, red/green apple, white grape/wine, coriander, sea salt, peppercorn, chili peppers, Tabasco, hay, straw, grass, wheat, cracker, white bread, light musty/lacto funk, and yeast earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of fruity/funky/acidic yeast, lime juice, spices, salt, and light-moderate pale/wheat malt notes; with big strength. Taste of big tart/sour lemon, lime, orange, citrus peel/zest, peach, pear, melon, red/green apple, white grape/wine, coriander, sea salt, peppercorn, chili peppers, Tabasco, hay, straw, grass, wheat, cracker, white bread, light musty/lacto funk, and yeast earthiness. Light-moderate fruity/lactic tart/sourness, fruit tang; light coriander, chili pepper, Brett spiciness on the finish. Lingering notes of lemon, lime, orange, citrus peel/zest, peach, pear, melon, red/green apple, white grape/wine, coriander, sea salt, peppercorn, chili peppers, Tabasco, hay, straw, grass, wheat, cracker, white bread, light musty/lacto funk, and yeast earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Great complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity/funky/acidic yeast, lime juice, spices, salt, and light-moderate pale/wheat malt flavors; with a great malt/tart/sourness, tangy fruit, and spiciness balance; with no puckering/astringent flavors after the finish. Moderate increasing dryness from lingering tart/sourness, tangy fruit, spice, and carbonation. Medium-high carbonation and light-medium body; with a very smooth, moderately grainy/acidic/tangy, fairly saline, and lightly sticky mouthfeel that is great. Zero warming alcohol as expected of 5%. Mild increasing pepper heat through the glass after the finish. Overall this is an excellent spiced sour/wild ale. All around great complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity/funky/acidic yeast, lime juice, spices, salt, and light-moderate pale/wheat malt flavors; very smooth, crisp, clean, and pretty refreshing to drink with the modestly acidic/tangy/spicy/drying finish; not overly lactic/salty. Very flavorful and not watery for the ABV. Not overwhelming on peppers. Great balance of vibrant citrus, Brett/Lacto complexity, and salt/spices; with a solid pale/wheat malt backbone against acidity. Zero residual sweetness with crisp acidic dryness. I was expecting some tomatoes/garlic etc, but definitely none of that going on. This is basically just a uniquely spiced citrus gose. A very enjoyable offering, and impressive style example otherwise.
