This Schumacher Mills Shandy is a sweet and refreshing cold weather beer. Peach and lemon puree, brown sugar, and cinnamon blend together with the light beer body to remind you of a delightful slice of peach cobbler pie.

Lock 15 Schumacher Mills Shandy
Live review (evening of July 15th, 2022). Poured from a 16 oz. Can purchased about a year ago at the brewery. Message on bottom of can is VERY difficult to read. Best I can make out is: Canned on 04/06/20. 14.46.02 (or last two digits are 62).
From web site: The Schumacher Mills Shandy is a sweet and refreshing summer beer. Lemon juice and ginger blend together with the light beer body to remind you of a delightful glass of lemonade. Type: Shandy/Radler-Ale. ABV: 7.0%. IBU: 4.7. SRM: 4.8
About the name: Ferdinand Schumacher is known for his Akron business American Cereal Company that later became Quaker Oats in 1901. It was the largest cereal company in the world at that time. In 1866, the cereal magnate purchased the Cascade Mill, specializing in wheat milling, which was located across the street from Lock 15’s curent location. Funny story about Ferdinand: he married his cousin and was a prohibitionist.
A: Poured from the can into a clean, clear glass. Moderate frothy head over an opaque orange/yellow body. I really like the look and it is better than many other beers in this style. 4.0
S: Somewhat distant malt, great ginger smell along with the lemony backdrop. 4.0
T: Taste flows directly from the smell. Light roast malt, minimal hops, lemon backdrop with “blonde” taste along with the very welcome ginger notes. The ginger really helps with the depth of the taste of this beer and, although some may not like it, I think it really enhances the taste. It MAY be one of my favorite Shandy’s which is not a style that I favor. 4.5
M: Light to moderate, supported by the ginger. Appropriate to the style and again, the ginger helped support the feel (along with the taste). 3.5
D: Drinkability is VERY high as I would expect most in this style would be. I could have 3 of these with ease. 4.5.
I am sure that a more fresh can would be a better representative of this beer but really I found it to be quite drinkable and pleasant. That is saying a lot (for me) for a Shandy.
