Built around a huge oatmeal stout recipe with plenty of brown malt to make it push coffee notes, big chocolate and subtle smoke.

Sampling a 16 oz can at cellar temp and pouring into a snifter. Date stamp on label is 5/8/2023.
The beer pours a rich cola brown and a dense creamy and soft beige head of 2 cm foams up. This foam fades to a sturdy surface covering and leaves some tight lattice on the glass when I swirl or take a sip. I also note a bit of garnet highlights when I hold my glass to a light source. Beer looks nice as a porter.
Aroma on this beer is dark chocolate, bakers chocolate, no sweetness and hints of roasted malt too. Maybe hints of a light grassy hop note, but primarily dark chocolate and roast on the nose.
First sip reveals a medium body and very smooth texture and soft and gentle carbonation. Physical traits makes this an easy drinking beer.
Flavor is similar to the nose with roasted malts and bakers chocolate, a little bit chalkyness like a hot cocoa powder comes through. Never any hint of the ABV on this beer and the hops are buried on the flavor profile. There is a little bitterness, but its dark chocolate or coffee ground bite not hop notes.
Nice straightforward porter without any additives or flavoring. Pretty solid and drinkable!

Dark murky brown with a reddish cast and plenty of foam in the Maredsous goblet. Light body with some malty substance and a touch of chalk. A touch of burnt sugar and initially the bright malt followed by a darker bitterness. Malty cereal aroma.
This reminds me of a Milk Stout, but not so sweet or rich. Flavor is hugely roasted barley, a more grainy sort of caramel taste. Just a slight bitter aftertaste. Actually quite interesting and a pleasure to keep sipping. From the 16 oz can purchased at Elizabeth Station.

Brownish body; thin yet creamy off-white head; sheets of foam down the glass. Roasted grain aroma; notes of bittersweet chocolate. Bittersweet chocolate flavor; nice bit of char; cocoa powder; slightly bitter. Medium-heavy body; dense and oily but with a slight dry char to things.
A very nice dark ale, with some somewhat dense residual sugar heft for body and a mild chocolate sweetness, balanced with some subtle roasted grain char.

Poured into a Fremont small snifter. Pours a dark mahogany brown with a quarter finger khaki head with good retention and lacing. Aroma of dark toasted malt, cocoa and nuts. Flavor follows, with dark toasted malt with slight char, cocoa and hazelnut. Finishes with light cocoa, nuts and a little hop bitterness. Medium bodied with light creaminess. A straightforward English style porter covering all the bases of the style. Nothing really stands out, but it is an authentic tasting take on this classic porter.
