another killer beer from these guys, i am loving all they do from the hoppy stuff to the saison types. this is a really complex beer for a session saison, really smartly built, a grisette with some rice in it, among obvious wheat and pils malts, but also a little color to it, a touch of richness from some toasted grain, perhaps a shade deeper in color than the super pale examples of the style i am most familiar with. the head is high from the can though, and the freshness is insane as the hops burst from this in the aroma. i get strong white wine, lemongrass, and gooseberry notes from this, like its trying to be tart but isnt quite, some lime leaf maybe too, but not perfumey. they dry hop it liberally, and its juicy and herbal but without bitterness in the taste. i am not sure i have seen or even heard of celeia hops before, but they obviously have a bright green fruitiness, and really define this beer for me. i like the starchy rice in the mouthfeel, i like the effervescence, and the dryness, even with the vienna malt in it, its crazy how well it comes together. its apparently can conditioned as well, which makes a lot of sense for a style like this but is something you rarely see. it gives the beer a cool maturity and appreciable highly refined character, and in the end the texture is as good as the flavor, which is to say fantastic! its the little details that make this, and the other matchless beers ive had, so inspiring. the can conditioning, the sourcing of cool hops for the dry hop, and the mixed malts in the mash all make this special. so distinctive and so good, lightly funky but not bretty in terms of fermentation, just rustic, juicy and ripe on the hops with some stone fruit and white grape and pear, and overall quite rustic, this is amazing beer! i cant get enough from these guys right now! the negative review below makes no sense to me, this is really impressive! session beer for beer drinkers!

L: Golden straw hue, translucent with a four finger sudsy head. Little to no lacing.

S: Tartness and earth, rustic in a barnyard way. Lame smell of green apples.

T: Tart. Plum water. Green apple maybe. Oyster crackers.

F: Watery with high carbonation.

O: Just awful. Hate to say it. But most any saison would beat this flavor. Matchless needs to work more on improving their recipes than releasing them in mass!
