It's not easy planning the logistics of fresh hop beers. We wanted to make a pale to utilize Citra fresh hops. To keep it from being ordinary we wrote a malt bill using un-fermentable adjuncts. You may wonder why, but we wanted to build the body big like a mountain, tall like a tree. The hops on the hot side were only in the Whirlpool to give a soft base bitterness. The hop farm called us all "friendly-like” letting us know they were ready a week early. We shoved them in a fermenter and racked onto them for a “dry” “wet" hop. All this green matter made a watermelon/mango flavor that is absolutely fine. Order it, it's easy we won't wonder why.
Hops: Wakatu, H. Blanc, Fresh Citra
Malts: Pilsner, Vienna, Wheat, Carapils, Carafoam
Yeast: Juice

Definitely a more 'green' fresh hop variant, zesty and floral with notes of tomato vine, mint, cedar, fresh cut grass, lemon zest, spicy, earthy, resiny, with some melon. Definitely unique and interesting.

16oz can from Brewers Haven. Hazy golden pour, short lived foamy head. Aroma is cucumber, soursop, prickly pear. Taste leads with more cucumber flavors, watermelon, cilantro, pear. Bready malts support all this flavor with a nice creamy texture.

16oz can served in a stemless angular wineglass. No date on the can, but it came out very recently, I'm sure. Bought it at Ridgewood Tap & Bottle.
Pours a slightly hazy light pale yellow. Head is medium sized. Medium carbonation when disturbed. Smell is melon, resin, flowers, a little citrus. I could believe a little bubble gum, too.
Taste is similar, though not as bright. Melon is there, bubble gum is there, but kind of dull. Flowers and resin are mostly missing. Citrus is still there, but more of a pithy flavor. Add in a bit of grainy sweetness.
Mouthfeel is medium and a bit sticky. Overall, it's a pretty good beer.

16oz can served in a curvy Monhegan pint glass. Label says it was dated 09/08/2025. Probably leans a bit towards my 2021 comments than 2024, but "dull" isn't a word I would use now. Nice beer.

16 ounce can into tulip glass, canned on 9/16/2019. Pours moderately hazy deep golden/orange/amber color with a 1-2 finger fairly dense and rocky off white head with great retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Nice spotty foamy lacing clings on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of tangerine, red grapefruit, lemon, lime, peach, pear, pineapple, passion fruit, mango, watermelon, gooseberry, white grape/wine, citrus peel/zest, wood, mint, peppercorn, pine, wheat, cracker, white bread dough, lightly toasted biscuit, and herbal/floral/grassy earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of citrus/fruity/tropical/fairly earthy hops and bready malt notes; with good strength. Taste of big tangerine, red grapefruit, lemon, lime, peach, pear, pineapple, passion fruit, mango, watermelon, gooseberry, white grape/wine, citrus peel/zest, wood, mint, peppercorn, pine, wheat, cracker, white bread dough, lightly toasted biscuit, and herbal/floral/grassy earthiness. Light-moderate pine, citrus peel/rind, herbal, floral, woody, grassy, peppery bitterness on the finish. Lingering notes of tangerine, red grapefruit, lemon, lime, peach, pear, pineapple, passion fruit, mango, watermelon, gooseberry, white grape/wine, citrus peel/rind, wood, mint, peppercorn, pine, wheat, cracker, white bread dough, lightly toasted biscuit, and herbal/floral/grassy earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Great complexity, robustness, and balance of citrus/fruity/tropical/fairly earthy hops and bready malt flavors; with an awesome malt/bitterness balance, and no lingering hop astringency after the finish. Fairly crisp finishing. Light-moderate increasing dryness from lingering bitterness. Medium carbonation and light-medium body; with a very smooth, moderately creamy/bready/grainy/sticky, and lightly resinous/rindy balanced mouthfeel that is great. Zero warming alcohol as expected of 3.7%. Overall this is an excellent hazy American pale ale. All around great complexity, robustness, and balance of citrus/fruity/tropical/fairly earthy hops and bready malt flavors; very smooth, refreshing, and fairly crisp to drink with the mellowly bitter/resinous/drying finish. Great soft feel and not aggressive. Very flavorful and not watery for the ABV. Great Wakatu, Hallertau Blanc, and Fresh Citra profile. Very vibrant, juicy, and fairly dank/earthy hops; with a great Vienna/Wheat malt backbone for the ABV. Light residual sweetness with lingering resin dryness. A very enjoyable offering, and impressive session style example. No complaints.
