Drank from a 1 pint can purchased at New Park Brewing, West Hartford, CT
Canned on 10/23/19
Served in a teku
Big thanks to my sister Vanessa for grabbing me a few cans of this.
The liquid poured an opaque deep plum color and was topped by a fluffy, finger-tall, light pink crown that quickly fizzled away. A barely-there collar encircled the liquid. Dots of lacing trickled down the glass after the first few sips.
The aroma was outstanding. Berry notes dominated. Blackberry/boysenberry and raspberry for sure. Maybe some blueberry as well. Really fresh and bold. Pleasantly sweet and also somewhat tart. Bit of yogurt-like sourness as well. There was also a touch of lemony acidity buried under all the berry notes.
The flavor was nearly as impressive as the aroma. Again, the berries came through big time. Blackberry and boysenberry specifically. Perhaps some blueberry too. Subtle lemon notes appeared in the center. Slightly tart and acidic. As in the nose, there was a touch of yogurt or lactose-like creaminess. The tartness and acidity intensified slightly on the back end and lingered in the finish.
Nice creamy, frothy, slick mouthfeel. Fuller bodied for the style. The liquid contained a fine, fairly zippy effervescence that turned fluffy and smooth on the palate.
New Park's Blender beers can sometimes come off as overly sweet and soda-like, but this Black-Ras variant was definitely one of their best efforts to date. The berry notes were really fresh, natural tasting and perfectly melded with the base beer, and the mouthfeel had a terrific creamy fullness to it. I would like to see future Blender releases go more in this direction as well.

L - aw yis, two of the best Blenders. Pours beet red juice with a glowing, frothing, blood-red head. Looks like raspberry puree with, well, blackberries thrown in.
S - jammy raspberry and oddly nostalgic Christmas memories. Light sweetness from the blackberry blends beautifully with the raspberry tartness. Even getting some blueberries and plain yogurt.
T - raspberry continues to dominate the tart side of things. Feels a lot richer, like there's lactose in here. Yogurty blackberry and black currants. Acai berries and citrus tingles. Lime juice to finish along with some back-of-the-throat tartness.
F - whoops, I already said "feels a lot richer" up above. Well it does! Yogurty viscosity not normally found in sours. Fruit smoothie.
O - one of the best Blenders to date. The dark, pungent, yet vibrant fruits simply saturate with a vast array of flavors beyond mere black/raspberry. Almost feels healthy to a degree, like the morning fruit shake we all wish we drank every day.

16oz can from the brewery. Pours a murky purple color with an inch of pink head. Lots of lacing. The aroma is lots of sweet berries and candy. Light notes of lemon and lime. The taste is like fruit juice. Raspberries, blackberries, cherries and lemon. Berry skittles at the finish. A bit sour and tart with a slightly dry mouthfeel. Lightly carbonated with very little alcohol presence.
