Drank from a 1 pint can purchased at New Park Brewing, West Hartford, CT
Canned on 03/25/2020
Served in a Rastal Harmony stemless beer glass
Gorgeous appearance. The hazy, ruby red grapefruit colored body was topped by a fluffy, inch-plus tall, light pink crown that dropped to a thick collar. No lacing whatsoever.
The aroma was outstanding. Raspberry notes came through strong. Dry, powdery yeasty notes were also apparent. As the head subsided, the strawberry came forth. Fresh, bright, sweet strawberry notes. Later, the strawberry really took over.
Raspberry notes led things off in the flavor profile. Fairly tart but also slightly sweet. As the beer moved along the palate, red currants appeared. Lemon came through in the center. Fairly tart and acidic. More raspberry on the back end. Raspberry seed-like notes were detectable in the finish. Hint of lingering bitterness.
The mouthfeel was somewhat disappointing. Lighter bodied for the style. The liquid contained a larger bubbled, fairly aggressive effervescence that felt a bit airy on the palate.
Strawberry is always a difficult fruit to showcase in a beer, but it came through loud and clear in the nose on this one (although not so much in the flavor profile). The raspberries and red currants also worked together really well. All in all, this is a very sold Blender beer. I would definitely put this somewhere in the middle of the pack for the series.
