Cloud 9 is our biggest DIPA yet. First brewed for our 3rd anniversary, this crowd favorite is back, brewed with huge amounts of white wheat malt, fluffy flaked wheat, and flaked oats. Dry hopped with an insane amount of our favorite American hop. Notes of juicy cantaloup, orange juice, mango nectar, and coconut cream.

Drank from a 1 pint can purchased at New Park Brewing, West Hartford, CT
Canned on 12/15/2020
Served in a tulip

Big thanks to my sister Vanessa for grabbing me a four-pack of this.

Gorgeous appearance. The hazy, golden yellow colored body was topped by a fluffy, two-finger tall, bright white crown that slowly dropped to a thin collar. As the head receded, rings of lacing stuck along the back portion of the glass and large patches coated the front.

The nose was hoppy and pleasant initially but fairly delicate. Crisp and dry with a slightly powdery yeastiness. As the head receded, subtle citrus notes came forth. Later, some peach appeared. The peach really intensified as the beer warmed. Touch of nectarine. Uber juicy and sweet. Hint of mango too. There was a subtle dankness as well.

The flavor profile was also fantastic. Peach notes were apparent from the get go. Super ripe and sweet. Good dose of mango as well. Touch of papaya. Tangerine peel came through on the back end. Notes of pithy citrus rind rounded things out in the finish. Hint of bitterness.

Medium-full bodied mouthfeel. Creamy, slick and smooth on the palate. The beer contained a super fine, mellow effervescence that fluffed up nicely.

People really talk up New Park’s Blender beers, but their hoppy offerings are even better imo. This anniversary release double IPA is perhaps their most impressive beer to date. I would put it right up there with some of the best stuff I have tried by Tree House, Trillium, etc.

L - getting some rave reviews. Let's give it a look-see, eh? Loving the pink sunset label. Pours a dark, brooding orange brown. Lots of murk. Healthy glow. Looks like a mango. Sticky, fluffy head that leaves legs.

S - strong, pervasive aroma. Fresh pineapple slices, acidic tartness a la grapefruit peel, and a calming, saturated, mellow melon fullness. Whiffs of herbal hops and grape candy.

T - spicy, tingly orange peel and a heaping helping of thick, saturated hops. Ripe, tropical flavors that are absolutely dripping with stickiness and hop oils. Lime, honey, toasted citrus rind, and candied orange. Apricots, grape must, and various fruit-flavored hard candies. Lifesavers? Top it all off with rich strawberry syrup. Finishes with dry hop residue and lingering grassy bitterness.

F - hate to be cliche, but like drinking a cloud. I'm on cloud 9 drinking this beer. It's seriously fluffy, thick, and pillowy. Velvet cream. One of the high points here.

O - classic New Park, but with an extra saturated and juicy twist. Loaded up with hops, but not in an overwhelming way. This one's a treat. Candies and cream.
