Drank from a 1 pint can purchased at New Park Brewing, West Hartford, CT
Canned on 09/16/20
Served in a Rastal Harmony stemless beer glass
The cloudy, oxblood colored body was topped by a frothy, inch-tall, light pink crown that quickly fizzled down to a medium collar. No lacing whatsoever.
Nice fruity and pleasant aroma. Blackberry came through strongest. There was a big, dry, powdery yeasty quality initially, but this dissipated as the head receded. Sour cherry was also noticeable. Good amount of lime too. Hint of cinnamon. As the beer warmed, the nose intensified. The cinnamon notes particularly came forth.
The flavor profile was similar to the aroma but not as complex. Blackberry was most prominent. Lime notes also came through strong and became even punchier as the beer moved along the palate. Overall, quite tart and tangy but also slightly sweet. Hint of spiciness. Perhaps this was the cinnamon.
Medium-light bodied mouthfeel. Crisp and fluffy on the palate. The liquid contained a medium bubbled, moderate effervescence.
Crimson is a nice addition to the Blender series. Although many breweries have upped their fruited sour game and solid examples are now relatively easy to acquire, New Park’s are still some of the better examples out there.
