Poured from 16oz can into my Centra Coast Brewers Guild glass.
Appearance: rich golden hue with a light haze and a finger of frothy eggshell foam atop. A perfectly cromulent looking pale ale!
Smell: dank, earthy, piney hops atop a straightforward malt base. I quite like it, but I wish the volume were turned up a bit on the hops.
Taste: wow, this is definitely the dankest pale ale I think I've encountered. The malt is relatively light, and though it's just a little on the sweet side, I think it strikes a pretty good balance. Perhaps a bit earthy for my taste, but well-made.
Mouthfeel: medium body with a decent carbonation and a somewhat rocky creaminess. Works for me!
Overall: I like this beer; to me, it definitely falls into the rubric of what I think of as a West Coast or Northwest classic pale ale. Not trendy, not for everyone, but solid.

a sturdy pale ale and a good one, i wish i had it a little fresher, but this is a really solid beer, almost english with its more robust malt profile, my first from silva, the green flash dude i assume. nicest bottle i have ever seen for a simple pale, the kind of thing i would more readily expect in a 30 dollar italian wild grape beer, but here we have a basic pale in this sexy little genie package. crystal clear, brass colored, and heady. it smells a touch tired, with some really mellow hops, almost english there too, not just from the grain, but it has a hearty malt base too. i think its awesome that it has a lot of bitterness, grapefruit pith and minerals, almost metallic even, but that might be a product of it being slightly past its moment. the light body is cool considering all the grain flavor, and the hops really are bold for how late they come on and how not dry hoppy this is. old school but from a place of understanding and refinement. i respect this a lot. cool brew, basic but awesome, i need more from these guys...
