Appearance: yellow-gold and totally opaque with haze. The head is a 1-finger of bright white superfine bubbles. Head retention is fair, which fades to a veil.
Aroma: “catty”-like hops, urine and fresh hop spiciness.
Flavor: hoppy without being overly bitter. No distinct hop flavors stand out. Somewhat generic.
Mouthfeel: light-medium; “crushable.” You could drink multiple of these without losing your appetite.
Overall: good, but not great. Is this an unfiltered west coast style or NE-style? It is hazy like the latter but lacking the “juicy.” There are no off flavors in this beer; it is simply underwhelming. I’m happy to have tried this on draft rather than buying a 4- or 6-pack. Of the 4-5 Outer Range beers I’ve tried to date, Rustic Ways ranks at the bottom.
