Appearance: dark(er) yellow-gold. There is considerable haze but shy of opaque – more like a cross between a West Coast IPA and a hazy NE IPA. The head is made up of microfine bubbles that fade very quickly leaving only a collar.

Aroma: pineapple and peach. The malt is in the background but contributes enough to indicate this will likely be on the sweeter side.

Flavor: generically hoppy (in a good way). The malt comes through mildly sweet and bready. Well balanced.

Mouthfeel: spot on. Light-medium. The near perfect weight, which invites you to drink a second.

Overall: damn good, which I’d say leans toward the better side of OR’s beers that I’ve tried to date (10 or so). Very easy drinking, but this beer does lack any stand out hop flavors – no distinctive pine, tropical fruit, etc.

the hoppy beers these guys are making are dead on, just absolute brilliant, and i could drink just about any of them all day long. this is one of their best so far, and i would put this against almost any ipa in the country, at least from an overall quality standpoint. its amazing. the art on the label is sick too, these just look so professional and attractive. a little less cloudy and dense as some of the outer range beers have been thus far, and a little darker too, but still with that juicy dry hopped aroma pushing through the tall white head, i sit there and smell on this one for quite some time before it even occurs to me to drink it. its wheaty and even a little toasted on the grain, but that aspect is subtle compared to hop forward it is, both tropical and juicy, and bitter and dank, its autumnal for sure with the grainier base, but also fall appropriate with a wet earthiness, hearty pine oily bitterness, and leafy element as well, its all here, and i think the name forestry suits it extremely well. i like the fuller body here and the long bitter hoppy finish, resinous, even pot-like for a moment, dried mango and tangerine are also in play, and mighty fresh. i hope some of these outer range cans start making it into liquor stores in denver, i want to have this available to me all the time. more interesting and complete than a lot of the hazy ipa types ever are. great stuff!

 

 

 

 

On tap at the brewery on 9/23/17 served in their signature tulip glass.

Look- A hazy dark orange with a couple centimeters of creamy white foam. It quickly settles leaving a little lacing behind.

Smell- Passion fruit, spicy weed, fresh rubber and some pineapple.

Taste- Dank weed, passion fruit, pineapple, clementines, floral esters and a hint of fresh rubber in the finish.

Feel- Soft and creamy to start with a little burn in the finish.

Overall- If you love your IPA's drank and weedy like I do, this is your beer. I deducted a little for the lack of head in the pour and the slight burn in the feel. Small potatoes in the grand scheme of things. This beer captures the style very well.
