something just a little different from these guys, not way different, its still a hazy ipa, but its a maltier one, shading red a little big in the glass, and with more substance and richness to it, more grain flavor too in the traditional sense, almost caramel malty rather than the lighter flavored but equally full bodied starchy wheaty oaty bases they build in many of their others. i like the little bit of sweetness and the heavier overall feeling this has, i think it makes the beer appropriately wintery and stick to the ribs like. i think this might get critiqued with folks saying its too malty, but i have to disagree, i like the malt complexion of this, i think its the hops that just arent quite right for this. for one, its a different profile than a lot of their others, less of the overt dry hop and more well rounded hop character through this, also super oily and almost rich on the hop side, citrus for sure, but its like honey too, sweet and bigger, not all tropical and winey and new school, more rugged too which i like, but it needs a little more fleshing out in here, more nuance, and a little more refinement. not their best beer, but one i would happily drink a glass of just about anytime. really though, these guys can do no wrong for me right now! its all so good...
