From the darkness of the Pumpkinverse, Pumpkin Underverse was born. This Imperial Stout slumbered in bourbon barrels with pumpkin, milk sugar, cinnamon, ginger and nutmeg to achieve a complexity not attainable without.

2021 vintage
16oz can
A- pours black in color with a one-finger foamy khaki head that has good retention
S- smells of chocolate and toasted malt up front, followed by heavy cinnamon, nutmeg and allspice. Creamy milk sugars give a hint of vanilla. Milk oaky bourbon undertone
T- heavy cinnamon and bourbon barrel take center stage, giving notes reminiscent of a cinnamon whiskey. Mid-palate gives chocolate and creamy milk sugars. The finish gives cinnamon, nutmeg and underlying barrel. Lingers of cinnamon, chocolate and whiskey
M- medium body with moderate carbonation leads to a foamy mouthfeel that finishes slightly creamy
O- cinnamon was a bit dominant, but overall all of the adjuncts work well with the base beer. Just enough barrel to notice

They brought a keg of this out from the Cellar a year after the initial batch for a special event. It’s really good. The non BBA is also stellar but this one is definitely a touch above. It’s got a great bourbon flavor that is very notable. Smell and look is almost the same but the taste does bring that little bit extra.
