This is a special, one-off, brewed once only, beer by several different breweries for the kickoff of Cleveland Beer Week 2018. While it was brewed at Masthead's location, it is a collaboration beer between Masthead Brewing Company, Avon Brewing Company, Boss Dog Brewing Company, Forest City Brewery, and Working Class Brewery. Masthead must have barrel aged some of the batch of this that was made last year for a Cleveland Beer Week 2018. Having this beer on-tap at the brewery or Masthead must have brewed a second batch of this on their own that they barrel aged. Served in a tulip style glass, this beer draws a very dark brown, almost black color with a tan, cocoa colored head that’s about another inch thick when first drawn and served. Settles eventually to a creamy looking, thick foam ring lining the inside of the glass along with a nice surface coating film layer of foam. Aromas of oaked bourbon, caramel malts, cinnamon, chocolate, vanilla, and chili peppers are all present. The taste follows suit, and the flavor profile is absolutely amazing. Oaked bourbon, caramel malts, cinnamon, chocolate, vanilla, and chili peppers, and also certainly some lactose. Has an overall smooth, creamy, frothy, medium to full bodied mouthfeel with light to moderate carbonation. The 12.5% ABV is well masked indeed. Has a clean finish and silky aftertaste.
