Having this beer on tap at the brewery at their annual anniversary party, this particular year is their ninth year anniversary. This particular batch is 13.4% AVB, and is aged in bourbon and Rye whiskey barrels with Tanzanian vanilla beans, toasted coconut, and lactose. This beer draws a very dark brown, almost black, color that is not going to let in any light at all. Aromas of roasted, caramel malts, vanilla, and coconut along with whiskey and rye bouron barrel oak notes. Has a very similar flavor profile, with the affirmation, roasted caramel malts, vanilla, coconut, a bit of chocolate, a hint of lactose, and certainly some bourbon and rue whiskey and wood barrel notes and boozeyness as well of course. add extremely well, balanced flavor profile, I noticed discernible hop flavor here as far as my palate is concerned. Has a fairly thick, slightly to somewhat syrupy, also smooth, just ever so slightly crisp, full-bodied mouth feel with minimal carbonation. An excellent beer here, especially on this very cold winter evening.
