Grab your barbells, wax your handlebar mustache and tighten your lifting belt for reps of bourbon soaked pralines, chocolate covered raisins, and caramel dipped apples. After aging in bourbon barrels for 12 months, this barleywine then rested in apple brandy barrels for an additional 8 months.

Sweet toffee malts, a hint of maple syrup, and a prominent bourbon barrel boozy nose on this one! Taste follows with a raisiny dark-fruity dominant, boozy bourbon oak-barrel finish. This is pretty good, but I needed a little more viscosity...and more caramel/toffee sweetness to balance out the dominant booziness picked up from the barrels. As it warmed, that booziness started to throw off the enjoyment of the finish.
