Diving into the depths of our cellar, we present to you a blend of 2 barleywine style ales. These ancient beers were brewed with honey and maple syrup, and aged for just over 3 years in bourbon barrels. Flavors of bourbon soaked hard toffee, candied pecans, and honeycomb claw out at your senses and into the sanctum of your soul. Take the plunge and push the boundaries of our oak program with us.

More Masthead. More things I love – maple, honey, barley. More than a standard pint, at 500ML with sickly grey wax.
The pour is very dark red with small islands of bubbles less than a mm thick. Smells sweet. Maple & honey both detected.
Desolate Diver pulls no punches & packs a little wet sand in the gloves, too. First, the base, which in the era of ’24, is often lost to barrels & additions but here, they barley sets a nice table. Bourbon pummels the palate…in a good way, & it sticks. I’ll be tasting that tomorrow. Sweetness interspersed; I’d have guessed maple & vanilla but whatever, it complements the rest beautifully, & never swerves into ‘too much’ territory. It’s possible I’m wishing for a bigger bottle to appear.
Well, damn. Base, barrels, add-ons, booze, add up to something that’s borderline magical. A top-shelf beer; keep being you, Masthead.

Both black and red, it's like an 8 ball but with some random shoots of red flame that seems to catch the eye every now and then. The head builds a very short tan blanket that quickly disperses to a bubbly collar.
A splintery oak punch meets slick and sweet mapled brown sugar. Raisin and spiced date come in after.
Intensely deep, complex and assertive, a very warming exhale without the sting brings bourbon char and dark salted caramel.
