This one pours a very dark color, with a small head, and not much lacing.
This smells very roasty and very barrel forward- this is pastry adjacent, and is mostly a barrel aged stout, at least from the aroma. There’s some vibrant coffee notes, but not much coconut.
If you’re looking for a big decadent and sweet pastry stout, this isn’t it. There’s a ton of barrel char, some smoke, some licorice, and a heavy roast profile. There’s also oak, and lots of dark chocolate. The coffee feels obvious, and melds well with the barrel character, but there really isn’t much coconut to this.
This is medium bodied, good drinkability, with just a touch of booziness.
This surprised me with how little coconut there was – once my palate adjusted, I definitely enjoyed it.
