Having this beer on tap at the brewery, this beer draws a very dark brown color with some deep highlights around the edges. Not much of a header, even with the first drawn and served. But that is okay here. Aromas of lots of toasted, bready malts along with some toffee and butter scotch notes followed by more sweetness and booziness from the whiskey and rye. A very similar flavor profile, with the aforementioned toasted, bready, caramel malt sweetness that gives way to the aforementioned toffee and butter scotch that’s followed with some additional sweetness and booziness from the rye and whiskey along with some barrel oak. Has a smooth, slightly syrupy, medium to full body and mouth feel with light to moderate carbonation. All of the flavors linger nicely on my palate for the aftertaste. Not at all a bad beer, in fact I quite enjoyed it overall, but I also feel like it is lacking something and that in some aspects the flavor profile was very one-dimensional.
