Released in honor of our 8 year anniversary, this imperial stout is celebration in a glass. Aged in apple brandy barrels, it boasts complex profile of rich roasted malts , dark chocolate, and hints of toffee. Complemented by notes of baked apple , vanilla and warming brandy with a smoothlingering finish, this special release is the perfect way to toast eight years of unforgettable brews.

I picked up this can at the brewery shortly after their 8th Anniversary festivities. Gonna be reviewing each of the 4 variants over time, but with these big ABVs its gonna be spread out a bit!
This variant aged in apple brandy barrels sounds exceptionally unique so lets get into it.
Im pouring at cellar temp into my snifter.
I can smell some light fruity apple and booze as soon as I open the can. The beer pours jet black and zero light is passing through my glass. A fizzy tan head foams up about .5 cm and fades to nothing quickly after the pour.
Aroma is dark fudge chocolate, sweetish apple brandy and boozy fusol notes. the boozy note is much less pronounced than the apple brandy. I also get some molasses in there too. Nose is very appealing and seems just about right for the style and barrel treatment.
First sip reveals a medium body with smooth creamy texture and very mild sort of spacious carbonation. Beer does some coating on my palate as I take each sip. Flavor is very similar to the nose, fudge brownie with some molasses and a bit of apple, sort of an apple pie flavor (no spices) just baked apples. There is definitely some warming booze on the finish, and I believe Im gonna be sipping this one for the rest of the evening. Very solid , big boozy imperial stout. I might go back and get more of this one!!
