Wet-Hop DIPA has completely knocked our socks off this year. If only we could share the aromas surrounding the canning line this morning! Brewed with fresh Mosaic hops less than 24 hours after they were picked off the bine, this west coast DIPA is one you won't want to wait on.

In some ways, wet-hop season makes us wish we could freeze time and have access to freshly harvested hops for every brew. Though part of what makes this fleeting window of time so treasured is its brevity; to capture freshness straight off the bine and share it with you in a brew. Sticky Fingers Double IPA showcases an incredible unification of aromas and flavors from this technique. It's sneaky-smooth and drinkable for 8.2%, with notes of ripe mango and a lingering, fruity finish.

2023 batch with "fresh frozen Citra cryo" and Mosaic. Thanks, Shane and Chris!

A clear light yellow with a dense white head with good retention and lacing. The nose is dominated by a glorious fresh hop character, rich, fruity, bright and vibrant with melon, grape, mandarin, and rich Mosaic character. No malt. The palate opens bitter and clean with rich fruit with a warming bite from the alcohol. Fruity with peach rings, grape, mandarin, honey. Drying, warming, boozy.

A; crystal clear; medium gold in color; 1 finger finely pored ivory head that receded to a wispy cap; nice lacing;

S: creamsicle first, then pineapple;

T: a combination of creamsicle and pineapple; it could mesh better, but it's still nice; mild to moderate bitterness on the finish; aftertaste is canned pineapple juice;

M: medium bodied; moderate carbonation; lightly dry finish;

O: good; different; interesting;

On tap at tasting room in Little Italy, into a pint glass

Burgeon has been outdoing themselves seemingly month-after-month, and this may be their pinnacle. Beautiful, perfectly clear straw-yellow appearance, moderate carbonation with a small wispy head.

Aromas are a whole array of pungent floral aspects, along with melon and berry notes. Dank.

Mosaic bomb on the palate, in the best way possible. Lots of melon rind, unripe raspberries, herbal water. Some peppery notes at the back of the sip, along with a little heat. Medium finish with lingering bitter residuals.

I want to swim in this beer.

Glass: North Park 16.5-oz. Munique glass
Price: $22 for a 4-pack
From: Burgeon Beer Co. in Carlsbad, Calif.
Purchased: Oct. 10, 2020
Consumed: Oct. 10, 2020
Misc.: Canned on Sept. 30, 2020

Grabbed a 4-pack of this and two other 4-packs at Burgeon on my way home from a work function in the LA area. Stopped specifically for this beer. Merged two Burgeon Facebook descriptions together, which came up with, “Wet-Hop DIPA has completely knocked our socks off this year. Poured a pale clear color with 5-to-6 fingers of rocky white head. Could see a few bubbles coming up from the bottom of the glass. World-class uneven foamy lacing. Excellent retention. (Sight - 4.50)

Smelled big Mosaic and its characteristics. In order got mixed viney berry, mango, passion fruit, floral, rose blossom, pine, herbal, peach and stone fruit. Much of the same from the can. Just so good on the nose. (Smell - 4.50)

Tasted almost as good as the nose. Such potent Mosaic hops. Also mixed viney berry, mango, passion fruit, pine, black pepper, herbal, stone fruit and ripe peach. (Taste - 4.25)

Medium body. Oily-to-creamy texture. Average carbonation. Abrupt, dry, bitter finish. (Feel - 4.50)

Damn. Just a world-class wet hop DIPA. So much Mosaic in a different way for me. It’s my favorite hop, but the wet hop added a new dimension. (Overall - 4.50)

No idea how I ended up with this one as it was probably something I traded for a long time ago. I enjoy the Stones and thought this might have been named after their album with this moniker but while searching on here for this beer, I saw that a lot of other brews were also called this. Did I miss out on something?

The pour to this was decent as the honey-hued liquid was moderately hazy and waxy with enough accompanying head to top it off. Very little lacing was left on the side of my pint glass as I worked my way through this as most of the bubbles slid down after each sip. Lots of dank Mosaic, citrus, booze, and oats in the nose as this smelled like a balanced and well-rounded beer; which turned out to be the case! The taste was a bit sticky (who would have guessed?) and heavy but there was enough carbonation and nectar present to keep this from feeling too heavy.

There was enough heft to it though and it was quite overt from the get-go. Dated 10/13/17 with STICKY ICKY written on top of it, this was a decent beer that checked off all of the boxes but didn't break any new ground at the same time. Would be fun to see what else Burgeon has released!

I love how this pour looks. What's visually impressive is the cap retention, as it lingers on and on. Smells wonderful! Love the fresh hops. Vibrant, vibrant, vibrant notes of melon and a touch of clementine citrus. Nicely bitter, with a lingering finish. Mosaic bomb deliciousness!
