Clear, sudsy, straw-yellow appearance. Nose is snappy, piney, touches of green apple. Flavors are floral, touches of honeyed biscuits, and nice citrusy bitterness. Clean finish, nice bold flavors for the ABV.

Straw color with an off white head. Nose is slightly piney. Initial taste hinted at pineapple, but only a bit that gave way to a piney bitterness across the palate. Nice bitterness on the fade across back of tongue.

Type: 8-oz. draft
Glass: Clear 8-oz. pilsner glass
From: Hoffer’s Cigar Bar in La Mesa, Calif.
Price: $3.50
Purchased: March 8, 2019
Consumed: March 8, 2019
Reviewed as: American IPA
Misc.: Quick review
Was looking forward to reviewing this one after sneaking over to Hoffer’s after work. Had it three times previously on Untappd, giving it a 4.25 and saying that it wasn’t quite as good as Treevana, but was awesome. Untappd had it as, “West Coast IPA hopped with loads of Simcoe and a nice dosing of Mosaic.”
Poured a medium yellow clear color with 1-to-2 fingers of frothy white head when I got it. Slow moving bubbles coming up from the bottom of the glass. Excellent spiderweb lacing. Outstanding retention. (Sight - 4.25)
Smelled Simcoe, Mosaic, mango, pine, passion fruit, buttered white bread and grapefruit. (Smell - 4.25)
Taste followed the nose for the most part, maybe not quite as good as I remember. Got Simcoe, mango, passion fruit, fresh pine, Mosaic and black pepper. (Taste - 4.00)
Medium body. Creamy texture. Average carbonation. Bitter, abrupt finish. (Feel - 4.00)
A little bit of a letdown in that I had remembered it being so much better, but still an outstanding West Coast IPA that I could drink all day. (Overall - 4.00)
