Type: 16-oz. can
Glass: Pure Project 16-oz. snifter glass
From: La Mesa Wine & Spirits in La Mesa, Calif.
Price: $5.99
Purchased: Dec. 7, 2018
Consumed: Dec. 7, 2018
Reviewed as: New England Double / Imperial IPA
Misc.: No canned on date
Had been looking forward to this one and was happy to see this in singles. From two of my favorite breweries in San Diego, the description was a, “Hazy double IPA collab w/Pure Project with tons of soft, chewy mouthfeel and hopped with Galaxy, Amarillo and Mosaic.”
Poured a hazy gold color with 4-to-5 fingers of rocky white head. Lots of bubble streams coming up along the sides of the glass at a reasonable speed. Perfect layered lacing. Perfect retention. (Sight - 5.00)
Smelled stone fruit, peach, Mosaic, floral, Tang drink, Amarillo, trashy Galaxy, viney berry and passion fruit. Much of the same from the can with Amarillo shining. (Smell - 4.00)
Tasted about the same as the nose. Got peach, stone fruit, passion fruit, Mosaic, Tang, Amarillo, trashy Galaxy, viney berry and orange zest. (Taste - 3.75)
Medium body. Creamy texture. Average carbonation. Pillowy finish. (Feel - 4.50)
Nowhere as good as I expected. Still an outstanding beer. (Overall - 4.00)
