Snuck over to Hoffer’s after work mainly for this beer. Right up my alley as a pastry stout, described on Untappd as an, “Imperial stout brewed with chuao cheeky churro chocolate, Dulce de Leche and brown sugar, conditioned on cacao nibs and cassia bark.”
Poured a pitch black color with 1-to-2 fingers of khaki tan frothy head with I got it. No bubbles coming up from underneath that I could see. Outstanding spotty lacing. Excellent retention. (Sight - 4.25)
Smelled anise, molasses, dark chocolate, brown sugar, black licorice, vanilla cream and a touch of cinnamon spice. (Smell - 4.00)
Churro was right on the taste. Wow. Got churro, dark chocolate, anise, black licorice, sticky molasses, toasted brown sugar, vanilla cream, cinnamon and roasty malts. Was getting all that 11.4 percent ABV. (Taste - 4.25)
Full body. Sticky texture. Average carbonation. Long, roasty finish. (Feel - 4.25)
Just an outstanding imperial stout overall. Was digging it. (Overall - 4.00)
