Type: 16-oz. can
Glass: Melvin 14-oz. Spiegelau IPA glass
From: Windmill Farms in Del Cerro (San Diego), Calif.
Price: $3.99
Purchased: May 3, 2019
Consumed: May 5, 2019
Reviewed as: American IPA
Misc.: Canned on March 25, 2019
Saw this for the first time at Windmill Farms on a recent trip and picked it up almost immediately. Had seen (Facebook) and heard (a podcast) the good deeds of this beer as a collab with the National Forest Foundation, I believe planting a tree for each beer/pint sold. Was labeled as a, “West Coast IPA hopped with Cascade, Chinook & Citra. The National Forest Foundation will plant one tree for every pint sold!” Kind of an old school West Coast IPA, but was looking forward to it.
Poured a pale yellow clear color with 3-to-4 fingers of rocky white head. Could see a good deal of bubbles coming up from the bottom of the glass at different speeds. World-class uneven foamy lacing. Perfect retention. (Sight - 4.75)
Smelled Chinook, Cascade, pine, pepper, lemon, grapefruit, dank resin, citrus zest and viney berry. Got some Citra from the can, but pretty much followed the glass. (Smell - 4.00)
Taste wasn’t quite as good as the nose, but certainly a West Coast IPA. Got Chinook, pine, Cascade, pepper, dank resin, grapefruit, lemon, Citra, viney berry and bitter citrus rind. (Taste - 3.75)
Medium body. Creamy texture. Average carbonation. Bitter, spicy finish. (Feel - 4.25)
Just a solid West Coast IPA. Would have this again for sure. Outstanding. (Overall - 4.00)

Canned 3-25-19
L: Straw. Lightly hazed. Light head that hangs in, with sticky lacing.
S: Smell of light citrus, light pine and light stone fruits. I also got an unfamiliar soapy aroma (that I liked) immediately after the pour.
T: Very well balanced of all the taste descriptors. Nothing overdone.
F: A lot smoother than it looks. Borderline creamy. Very light carbonation and bitterness.
O: Sometimes you run into a beer that doesn't overwhelm.. just does well enough to want more. This is one of those beers. A good tasting beer that I liked.
