Collaboration with MadeWest Brewing Company

Our 8.3% DIPA collab with MadeWest explodes with melon and mango flavors. Cascade Whole Leaf, Simcoe, Citra and Cashmere shine bright in this west-coast DIPA, with flavors and aromas spanning sweet grapefruit, cantaloupe, mango, and the piney good-good you expect from a west coast IPA.

Hops: Cashmere, Simcoe, Simcoe Cryo, Citra Cyro, Citra
Malts: 2 Row, Pilsner, Pale Wheat, Carafoam

Recently had some MadeWest beer and really liked it. Combine them with Burgeon and this one would have to try pretty hard to fail. Burgeon’s Facebook description had it as, “Our 8.3% DIPA collab with MadeWest explodes with melon and mango flavors. Cascade Whole Leaf, Simcoe, Citra and Cashmere shine bright in this west-coast DIPA, with flavors and aromas spanning sweet grapefruit, cantaloupe, mango, and the piney good-good you expect from a west coast IPA.” Sounded good to me.

Poured a medium yellow-to-gold clear color with 2-to-3 fingers of off-white frothy white head. Lots of bubble streams coming up from the bottom of the glass at different speeds. Excellent spiderweb layered lacing. Almost perfect retention. (Sight - 4.50)

Smelled melon, herbal, green leaf, pine, wet grass, spoiled fruit, lime, resin, Cascade and mango rind. Wasn’t getting any Simcoe or Citra from the glass. Did get a little bit of both from the can though. (Smell - 3.75)

Tasted better than the nose, but similar notes. In order got herbal, green viney leaf, melon, pine, Cascade, lime, wet grass, resin, spoiled fruit, mango rind, black pepper, Simcoe and red grapefruit peel. (Taste - 4.00)

Medium body. Oily-to-creamy texture. Average carbonation. Dry, bitter finish. (Feel - 4.00)

An outstanding West Coast IPA overall. Would have it again for sure. (Overall - 4.00)
