Collaboration with Modern Times.
Last year’s collab with Modern Times was such a smash hit that we decided to run it back just in time for the new year! Ultra Linear DDH Hazy IPA surges with powerfully charged Galaxy, Strata, Citra, and Citra Cryo hops.

Type: 16-oz. can
Reviewed as: New England IPA
Glass: Clear 16-oz. Bruges beer glass
Price: $4.69
From: Windmill Farms in Del Cerro (San Diego), Calif.
Purchased: Jan. 28, 2021
Consumed: Jan. 30, 2021
Misc.: Canned on Dec. 29, 2020; Collaboration with Modern Times
Grabbed a can of this and a host of others on a recent trip to Windmill Farms. Online description was “Last year’s collab with Modern Times was such a smash hit that we decided to run it back just in time for the new year! Ultra Linear DDH Hazy IPA surges with powerfully charged Galaxy, Strata, Citra, and Citra Cryo hops.” Liking that hop combo.
Poured a light golden hazy color with three fingers of frothy white head. Plenty of bubbles creeping up along the sides of the glass. World-class spiderweb foamy lacing. Very good retention. (Sight - 4.25)
Smelled Galaxy and Citra up front with Strata in the background. Also grapefruit, passion fruit, lemon, citrus zest and grass. A little better out of the can with the addition of peach and some earthy pilsner malt. (Smell - 3.75)
Tasted about as good as the nose. Got grapefruit, passion fruit, citrus zest, lemon, peach and grass. For hops got Citra up front, followed by Galaxy and lesser Strata. (Taste - 3.75)
Light body. Oily texture. Lively carbonation. Clean, crisp finish. (Feel - 4.25)
This was not as good as I hoped, but still very good. May have overrated this slightly. (Overall - 3.75)

Modest haze on the pale yellow brew with plenty of foam in the big Stout glass. Aroma of lemon with a touch of peach. Taste is citrus peel, with a hint of mango and grapefruit peel to finish. Light and lemony with a smooth mouthfeel. Just a bare hint of sweetness, but tastes malty in a pleasant sort of way.
Quite a bitter tingle in the aftertaste but not any of the gunky acidity so endemic in NE brews. Quite drinkable and worth trying if you usually dont like hazies. From the 16 oz can purchased from Bine & Vine. Dated 12/29/20 on the bottom.
