Type: 16-oz. can

Glass: Firestone 16-oz. Spiegelau IPA glass
Price: $4.29
From: Windmill Farms in Del Cerro (San Diego), Calif.
Purchased: May 12, 2021
Consumed: May 21, 2021
Misc.: Collab with McIlhenney Brewing; Canned on April 28, 2021
Spent way too much on a recent trip to Windmill Farms. Was excited for this one as it was a collab between two of my favorite breweries in Burgeon and McIlhenney Brewing (original Alpine guys). Brought one of the cans to a bottleshare, giving it a 4.25 on Untappd and writing “Collab with McIlhenney. Have a can of this at home but really good. Excellent for now.” Untappd description was “DDH West Coast IPA collab brewed w/Mcilhenney Brewing. Double whirlpool, double dry hopped w/Mosaic, Citra, Simcoe, Strata, Mosaic Cryo, Simcoe Cryo & Citra Cryo.”
Poured a medium yellow clear color with 2-to-3 fingers of frothy white head. Lots of fast-moving bubbles coming up from the bottom of the glass. Almost perfect spiderweb foamy lacing. Almost perfect retention. (Sight - 4.75)
Smelled pretty damn good right from the start. Got all four mentioned hops up front, in order Strata, Mosaic, Simcoe and Citra. Also garlic, pine, dank resin, tangerine rind, grapefruit, mango, papaya, berry, wet grass, orange, pineapple and body odor. Not quite as good as the initial smell but still really good on the nose. Excellent from the can as well. (Smell - 4.25)
Didn’t taste quite as good as the nose, but still awesome. In order got Strata, Simcoe, Mosaic, Citra, garlic, pine, dank resin, grapefruit, papaya, mango, tangerine rind, berry, wet grass, pineapple, body odor and lingering black pepper. (Taste - 4.25)
Medium body. Oily-to-creamy texture. Average carbonation. Long, bitter finish. (Feel - 4.50)
Damn. I think I underrated this overall but it was excellent at least. (Overall - 4.25)

A: crystal clear; medium gold in color; 1 finger finely pored white head that receded to a wispy cap; nice lacing;
S: not as much aroma as I would expect from a DDH beer; what's there is grapefruit, orange, and pineapple;
T: pink grapefruit and orange up front; from the middle through the finish, the pink grapefruit increases and is dominant by the end; mild to moderate bitterness on the finish;
M: medium bodied; light to moderate carbonation; moderately dry finish;
O: DDH made me expect hazy - it was crystal clear; a crystal clear IPA made me expect some bitterness - it was a juice bomb; I enjoyed being surprised;
