Type: 16-oz. can
Reviewed as: New England IPA
Glass: Pure Project 16-oz. Spiegelau IPA glass
Price: $4.69
From: Windmill Farms in Del Cerro (San Diego), Calif.
Purchased: July 23, 2021
Consumed: Aug. 13, 2021
Misc.: Canned on July 6, 2021
Went looking for some North Park cans at Windmill Farms and came across a couple new Burgeon beers I hadn’t seen yet. This one was detailed on Untappd as a “Hazy IPA brewed with a Summer beach day in mind! Hopped with Motueka, Simcoe & Citra.”
Poured a medium yellow semi-hazy color with 4-to-5 fingers of rocky white head. Lots of bubbles coming up along the sides of the glass at different speeds. Almost perfect foamy lacing. Almost perfect retention. (Sight - 4.75)
Smelled lemon, grapefruit, herbal, Motueka, Citra, citrus zest, Simcoe, pine, lime, soap, tangerine, mango and a touch of earthy malt. About as good from the can. (Smell - 4.00)
Tasted almost as good as the nose. In order got Motueka, Citra, grapefruit juice, lemon, herbal, tangerine, mango, Simcoe, pine, lime, peppery spice, Irish Spring soap and a touch of earthy malt. (Taste - 3.75)
Light-to-medium body. Creamy texture. Lively carbonation. Dry, juicy finish. (Feel - 4.00)
I was back and forth on a few categories but I think this was about right. An outstanding hazy IPA. (Overall - 4.00)
