Glass: Burgeon .5L pilsner glass
Price: $3.69
From: Windmill Farms in Del Cerro (San Diego), Calif.
Purchased: July 23, 2021
Consumed: July 24, 2021
Misc.: Collaboration with Highland Park; Canned on June 23, 2021
Went looking for some North Park cans at Windmill Farms and came across a couple new Burgeon beers I hadn’t seen yet. This collab with Highland Park was described on CraftShack’s website as a “Hoppy Lager brewed in collaboration w/Highland Park Brewery. Hopped w/Nelson, Citra & Saphir and lagered to crisp, hoppy perfection!”
Poured a pale-to-medium yellow clear color with 2-to-3 fingers of frothy off-white head. Surprisingly not many bubbles underneath the head. Excellent foamy lacing. Excellent retention. (Sight - 4.50)
Smelled a nice mix of hops and lager yeast/malts. In order got Citra, grass, white bread, Nelson, grapefruit, lime, viney berry, earthy pilsner malt, grain, black pepper and herbal. Just as good from the can. (Smell - 4.25)
Tasted pretty good, but not quite as good as the nose. In order got Citra, lime, grapefruit, grass, bitter pine, white bread, earthy pilsner malt, grain, black pepper, Nelson, herbal and some skunk. (Taste - 4.00)
Light body. Oily-to-creamy texture. Lively carbonation. Clean finish. (Feel - 4.00)
Outstanding hoppy lager. Would have again for sure. (Overall - 4.00)
