Picked up a can of this on a recent trip to Windmill Farms along with a bunch of other stuff. Burgeon’s website called it “Our first Mexican Amber Lager! The recipe takes the foundations of our pale Mexican Lager, Invita, & combines a fuller malt lineup to bring you added depth & delicate aromas of dark malt & hops.”
Poured a brown color with two fingers of khaki-white frothy head. Could see just a few bubbles coming up along the sides of the glass. Excellent uneven foamy lacing. Good retention. (Sight - 4.25)
Loved this smell right from the beginning. In order got toffee, caramel, cocoa, baker’s chocolate, wheat toast, nutty malts, bitter crayon, peppery spice and hints of skunk. Not quite as good from the can. (Smell - 4.25)
Taste followed the nose for the most part. In order got toffee, caramel, cocoa, baker’s chocolate, wheat toast, nutty malts, peppery spice, skunk, bitter crayon and hints of semi-char wood. (Taste - 4.25)
Medium body. Creamy texture. Average carbonation. Long, toasty finish. (Feel - 4.50)
This was excellent. Was surprised at how much I liked this one. (Overall - 4.25)
