Collaboration with Pizza Port Brewing Company

There’s something special about SoCal beach towns & the neighborly feeling you get when walking around (especially when hopping between breweries!) We are stoked to release this collaboration with our good friends & neighbors Pizza Port Brewing Company! The collaborative process & the chance to host these badass folks for a too fun brew day are huge parts of why we love what we do in all departments here at Burgeon. To celebrate our shared coastal heritage, we brewed a brand new West Coast IPA hopped with Nelson, Simcoe, Mosaic Cryo, & El Dorado.

Misc.: Collaboration with Pizza Port; Unable to read canned on date

Grabbed a bunch of cans on a recent trip to Windmill Farms. Bine & Vine’s website description was “Loaded with Nelson, Simcoe, Mosaic Cryo, and El Dorado, this West Coast IPA was brewed in coastal-inspired collaboration with the Pizza Port Brew Pubs! Aggressively hopped to achieve maximum fruit flavors & aromas paired with moderate bitterness and a dry finish, Coastal Concept boasts notes of passion fruit, pear, candied fruit, and a hint of dankness.”

Poured a medium yellow clear color with 3-to-4 fingers of rocky white head. Could see plenty of bubbles coming up along the sides of the glass at different speeds. World-class uneven spiderweb foamy lacing. Almost perfect foamy retention. (Sight - 4.75)

Smelled pretty damn good. Simcoe and Nelson stood out, but Mosaic and El Dorado also was there right away. Specifically got candied pear, pine, mango, papaya, passion fruit, mixed berry, Juicy Fruit, orange rind and floral. (Smell - 4.25)

Tasted pretty damn good, but not quite as good as the nose initially. In order got Simcoe, Nelson and Mosaic, with El Dorado in the background. Also got pine, black pepper, candied pear, mango, papaya, passion fruit, mixed berry, Juicy Fruit, orange rind, floral and wet grass. (Taste - 4.00)

Medium body. Creamy texture. Average carbonation. Smooth finish. (Feel - 4.25)

This was nice. One of the best Pizza Port IPAs I’ve had. EDIT: This was my highest-reviewed Pizza Port IPA. (Overall - 4.25)

awesome send by my boy, this is delicious, a collaboration with pizza port, clear west coast ipa, super bright beer, light as they come on the malt side, not even colored, almost a pils look to this, just a shade deeper than that, nice shine and awesome carbonation, the pint can fills out a shaker glass better than most, wispy cirrus head on it, plenty of lace as we drink it down, and i am surprised how fast my wife and i do exactly that, this is simcoe forward to me and usually thats not what she likes, but she was all over this one, almost had to fight for my share. the nose has mosaic too, and some southern hemisphere melon and mango character, vinous, peaches, honestly not crazy new to me or anything just really fresh and pungent, the hops start super early and without more than a little biscuity malt essence, hops dominate. major pine sap, juniper, and orange peel in the nose, cantaloupe, more peach, summery and sexy for being this bold, just enough grain for it to seem balanced a little bit, in a modern way, crackery pils, invisible ferment, light body but some oils from the hops beef it up a bit. honey stickiness, resplendent freshness, and very nice carbonation. this is insanely drinkable for being dank like this, somewhat bitter too, but its not old school because of how dry it is, and the cryo type early start is definitely contemporary. wicked proportions, could have made a day of drinking this. heck of an introduction for me to burgeon this weekend with this one and their clever kiwi nelson lager! elite quality here, very california.
