Type: 16-oz. can
Reviewed as: Italian Pilsner
Glass: Clear 16-oz. Bruges beer glass
Price: $3.69
From: Windmill Farms in Del Cerro (San Diego), Calif.
Purchased: Aug. 27, 2022
Consumed: Sept. 9, 2022
Misc.: Canned on July 20, 2022
Grabbed a 4-pack of Enegren and a bunch of other stuff on a recent trip to Windmill Farms. Untappd description was “Italian Style Pilsner brewed with Eraclea Pilsner and dry hopped with Saphir & Spalter Select.”
Poured a pale-to-medium yellow clear color with two fingers of frothy off-white head. Could see some bubbles creeping up along the sides of the glass. Good spotty-to-foggy lacing. Bad watery retention. (Sight - 3.50)
Smelled pretty damn good. In order got Saphir, tangerine, Corn Flakes, grass, hay, light skunk, black pepper, sourdough bread, lightly salted white cracker and hints of pear. Not quite as good from the can. (Smell - 4.25)
Tasted almost as good as the nose. In order got Saphir, tangerine, Corn Flakes, grass, hay, black pepper, sourdough bread, white cracker, light skunk, and hints of both honey and pear. (Taste - 4.25)
Medium body. Creamy texture. Lively carbonation. Abrupt, spicy finish. (Feel - 4.75)
Damn. Really liked this beer and I still think I slightly underrated this. (Overall - 4.50)
